Pet Shop Boys and New Order Share Top Billing at the Bowl: This is a spectacular double bill, even accounting for the fact that Peter Hook isn’t in New Order. But still, it’s been a while since the ever-awesome Pet Shop Boys were in town. And we do wonder if there’s a potential for some Electronic tunes featuring the two frontmen.
According to the press release, “Both bands will be alternating as opening and closing acts throughout the co-headline tour, with Paul Oakenfold playing a special DJ set before each act. Specific show times will be confirmed the day before each show. Pet Shop Boys fourteenth studio LP, Hotspot,is out now to critical acclaim via x2 Records/Kobalt. The album reached #3 in the UK, German and Spanish albums charts and #1 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart, making it the fourth Pet Shop Boys’ album to accomplish the feat.”
“Rising from the ashes of Joy Division, the enigmatic New Order triumphed over tragedy to emerge as one of the most influential and acclaimed bands of all time. While their debut album Movement (1981) was shadowed by the legacy of Joy Division, going forward the band combined their original post-punk sound with influences from New York’s club scene.”
Pet Shop Boys and New Order Share Top Billing at the Bowl: The event takes place at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 7 and Saturday, October 8 at the Hollywood Bowl.
