Fashion model Katie and Lauren Hamden recently collaborated with one of YouTube’s biggest powerlifters, Vladimir, also known as Anatoly.
As a fitness buff herself, Hamden knows what to look for in other athletes when it comes to form, practice and results from training at the gym.
Being that Anatoly is known as one of the greatest successes of powerlifting, Hamden knew instantly that she wanted to collaborate with the YouTuber in some way.
Not only does the elite athlete boast over 20 million followers on Instagram and over 8 million subscribers on YouTube, but he’s also set records for the heaviest deadlifts and even became a certified master of his craft.
While Anatoly began his online career with posting videos of his workouts, he eventually segwayed into posting viral pranks he played on people at the gym.
One of his most successful bits is pretending to mop the gym floor with a 70-pound mop. Though he acts like he wants to clean the workout area, his true intention is to get his hands on a barbell with an absurd amount of weight attached.
Thinking that she could combine her beauty and influence in the modeling industry with Anatoly’s pull in the gym world, Hamden contacted the YouTuber to discuss what they could potentially create together.
What began as a friendly exchange quickly turned into a viral success for Hamden, as Anatoly and the model came up with the perfect way to showcase both of their talents in the same video.
Since Anatoly values an aesthetically-pleasing cover image for his YouTube videos, he chose to use Hamden’s faces and photoshop it onto random female bodies.
The images of Hamden depict her as a gym-goer in athletic attire who appears to be completely shocked by Anatoly’s ability to pick up a 70-pound mop.
In a new interview with Ruthless Media, Hamden explained how being a part of the YouTuber’s community, where he garners up to 25 million views per video, was one of the “best ways” to create relationships with a different fanbase than she has in the modeling industry.
“When you have someone as successful as Anatoly wanting to work with you, it raises the bar in every way possible,” Hamden said. “He instantly showed that he valued what I do in my career and utilized it in a really cool way.”
Hamden continued, “Not only was it fun to work with him, but he also left me motivated to achieve even more. It’s important to work with people you have genuine interest in, so it was definitely special to be able to connect.”
The model elaborated that after being featured in several of Anatoly’s YouTube videos, she plans to continue forging work relationships that will not only elevate her career — but also enhance her life, as the powerlifter’s success story “truly inspired” her.
