Former Meituan Select Logistics Head Lyu Nan to Join SwiftX as COO and Lead Sorting Automation Upgrade

SwiftX News

SwiftX, a U.S. e-commerce logistics company headquartered in Eastvale, California, recently announced that Lyu Nan, former head of logistics at Meituan Select, will join the company as Chief Operating Officer, where he will oversee operations and lead the execution of its sorting automation project. Founded in May 2025, SwiftX primarily provides e-commerce parcel delivery and last-mile services. According to the company’s website, its network currently covers more than 5,500 ZIP codes, processes over 500,000 parcels daily, and operates seven days a week. Lyu Nan previously spent more than a decade at Meituan, with experience spanning instant-delivery dispatch, warehouse-and-delivery networks, and business operations, and he led the shift of Meituan’s food-delivery dispatch from manual to system-based scheduling.

At SwiftX: Set to Lead the Sorting Automation Upgrade

SwiftX plans to introduce cross-belt sorters and linear narrow-belt sorters at its core hubs to replace manual sorting steps and improve throughput and accuracy. Once he takes office, Lyu Nan will serve as project lead and oversee equipment selection, operating procedures, project rollout, and long-term planning for the sorting system. “I will be responsible for the overall equipment selection and process design—I will be accountable for the results and for the long-term plan,” Lyu Nan said.

Under the company’s plan, the sorting system will first be piloted at the one or two highest-volume hubs; once processing capacity, operational stability, and return on investment are validated, it will be rolled out more broadly. SwiftX expects to raise its automated sorting ratio above 60% in the second year and above 90% by the third year. Lyu Nan said automation itself is not the goal—the project is meant to deliver consistent transit times and service quality across nodes, and to free up labor from repetitive work. Over the same period, the company will build on its existing seven hubs to expand ZIP code coverage from more than 5,500 today to more than 10,000, while progressively rolling out instant delivery, half-day delivery, same-day delivery, and next-day delivery products, and piloting unified dispatch and forward-warehouse models. As COO, Lyu Nan will oversee the build-out of sorting, dispatch, warehousing, and network expansion, and will play a key role in advancing these businesses.

From Amazon and JD.com to Meituan: A Career Built on Logistics Systems

Lyu Nan’s ties to logistics systems go back even further. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Information Management and Information Systems from Tianjin University of Technology, then earned a master’s in Computer Science at the University of Wollongong in Australia. From 2009 to 2012, he worked on supply chain systems development at TD SYNNEX China. From 2012 to 2013, he served as a Technical Program Manager at Amazon China, responsible for product design of last-mile delivery systems for its e-commerce business. From 2013 to 2014, he was a senior product manager in JD.com’s retail supply chain division.

At Meituan: Leading Instant Delivery’s Shift from Manual to System-Driven

In 2015, Lyu Nan joined Meituan, China’s local services platform, as a product manager in its delivery organization, reporting directly to Wang Puzhong, then head of Meituan’s food-delivery business. He led the delivery-dispatch product from the ground up, driving the order-assignment model from rider grabbing and manual scheduling to automatic system dispatch, and expanding the scope of dispatch from a single commercial district to cross-district, citywide coordination. During the same period, he was also responsible for the rollout of products such as a rider voice assistant and the crowdsourced-delivery “Meituan Zhongbao” program. While he led these products, Meituan’s food-delivery platform surpassed ten million daily orders, and average delivery time was compressed to under 28 minutes. The automatic dispatch and citywide coordination system he built provided the systems backbone for fulfillment efficiency as order volume scaled. By his recollection, internal estimates at the time put the delivery-efficiency gain at roughly 20% to 30%.

From 2020 to 2023, Lyu Nan served as head of logistics for Meituan’s community e-commerce business, Meituan Select, where he designed and implemented a three-tier fulfillment system of central warehouses, grid warehouses, and group leaders, bringing in idle societal warehousing and delivery capacity through a franchise-partner model. A single central warehouse could indirectly cover tens of thousands of communities through 40 to 70 grid warehouses, and a fulfillment cadence of “orders finalized same day, delivered the next” supported Meituan Select’s early expansion into lower-tier markets. He later also led Meituan Select’s merchandising and operations department, and from March 2025 to February 2026 he served as general manager of Meituan’s Attractions and Activities business unit.

Bringing a Systematic Approach to SwiftX’s Logistics Network

Lyu Nan said that at Meituan he led the shift from manual to system-based dispatch and from point-to-point delivery to integrated warehousing-and-delivery. What SwiftX faces now is the leap from manual to automated sorting. Both transitions require reducing uncertainty in the logistics network through systems, processes, and data. At SwiftX, Lyu Nan will apply that experience to the sorting automation project, taking direct responsibility for its implementation while also contributing to the broader operating system and network build-out that follows.
