Jozzy is stepping off the mic and onto the stage—literally.
Fresh off the release of her vulnerable, slow-burning single “Maybe,” the Memphis-born singer-songwriter is doubling down on transparency with Stage Play 2 Get Her Back, a one-night-only live performance at North Hollywood’s El Portal Theater on Tuesday, April 29. The play, teased as a “star-studded cultural moment,” shares the same DNA as her upcoming debut album Soundtrack 2 Get Her Back, out in May.
Presented with the tagline “What’s Love Without Trust, Loyalty, and…Gossip?”—Jozzy’s stage debut blurs the line between confession and performance, heartbreak and humor, reality and scripted drama.
The cast includes Jozzy herself, alongside Clarke Lauren, Angel Ann Craig, Khadi, and Sarae, with surprise guests slated to appear. The creative team reads like a dream team: written by Brianca Williams, scored by Love & Hip Hop legend Stevie J, with visual direction led by Pierre York. Kobe Boateng is behind the camera for photography, while Nolan Rugg and Seb Espino handle video.
But it was Jozzy’s Instagram that lit the initial match. Last week, she posted a raw video that quickly went viral, breaking down a fight with her girlfriend that left her blocked “on everything.” Fans weren’t sure if it was a promo stunt or a breakdown in real time—but either way, the comments poured in with concern, tough love, and advice, proving Jozzy’s acting chops are either award-worthy or heartbreakingly real.
“I’m f*cking losing it right now, bro,” Jozzy confessed in the video. “I really think I just lost my girl. Shawty has blocked me on everything. I can’t even email, like literally.”
The emotional monologue detailed the fallout from a seemingly innocent music-related text from another artist, a disagreement over trust, and the breakdown of unspoken rules in a modern relationship. Her fans weren’t the only ones who responded—SZA herself chimed in with a comment that sent the post spiraling even further into the zeitgeist.
“Lmao I have no idea if this is real or not but I hope she come back cause this not the Jozzy I know,” SZA wrote. “Love wins gang.”
Whether you view it as performance art or personal purge, Stage Play 2 Get Her Back is already striking a chord. The show’s fusion of R&B, live theater, and real-life tension is rare air for a debut, but Jozzy has long shown she’s comfortable writing the soundtrack to her own vulnerability. Now, she’s putting it on stage.
