“God Loves You” graffiti pieces have appeared on f “God Loves You” graffiti pieces have appeared on freeways, underpasses and street corners across Los Angeles, joining a growing movement of Christian graffiti that puts scripture front and center. We spoke with four longtime LA graffiti writers — VOX, JER33R, WES 77 and HIPPIE — who share how faith helped share their lives and their art. All are members of ISI Crew, short for Iron Sharpens Iron, a collective that brings together artists committed to spreading the gospel through graffiti. The crew also requires members to paint only on legal walls or with property owners’ permission. For VOX, a series of major health scares prompted a reconsideration of what he wanted his art to represent. JER33R found tranquility in surrendering his life to Jesus, while WES 77 returned to painting after stepping away from graffiti’s darker side. HIPPIE’s son’s extraordinary medical journey deepened his sense of divine protection. @isicrew

Alex Lewis has spent fall 2026 performing eight sh Alex Lewis has spent fall 2026 performing eight shows a week in “Slam Frank,” the provocative and hilarious hip-hop musical in New York. Lewis plays Peter van Daan — a nonbinary dancer invented by a fictional progressive theater company that decides the original Anne Frank story centers too many privileged white European Jews. He’s also a producer on the show, which gets huge laughs, plus some controversy and audience walkouts. Lewis is also one-third of Lewberger, the LA comedy band that built a following through viral songs, America’s Got Talent and an Off-Broadway musical. A Jewish Angeleno who grew up in Calabasas, Lewis says working on “Slam Frank” changed his relationship with Judaism. We caught up with the self-described “unwitting theater geek” as he gave us the deep dive on the show and growing up in the Jewel of the Southland. @i8athumbtack

ORIGIN opened this past weekend in the Arts Distri ORIGIN opened this past weekend in the Arts District, Oct. 9–10, transforming the former LOT 613 space into a new indoor-outdoor club built around electronic music. The opening weekend featured MRAK (solo project of Tale Of Us’ Carmine Conte), Brazilian DJ Malive, Greek producer Liva K and Danish techno artist Kölsch, among others. Founded by longtime LA nightlife promoters Roni Mehrabian and Cyril Bitar, ORIGIN features design by Marc Dizon and a custom KV2 Audio sound system. The venue plans to host touring DJs, local talent, daytime parties and live performances. @thisistheorigin_ See the photos and recap thru @laweekly 📸 @photosbydutches
Head Trip brought some of dance music’s biggest na Head Trip brought some of dance music’s biggest names to Indio’s Empire Polo Club Oct. 10–11, with Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, FISHER + Chris Lake, Skrillex, Peggy Gou B2B Four Tet, and Dom Dolla B2B Kettama among the weekend’s heavy hitters. Billed as a one-time event, the festival’s debut hit a snag Saturday when a lightning warning forced an evacuation and cut performances short, canceling Calvin Harris’ scheduled set. Organizers rearranged Sunday’s lineup to bring Harris back for the final night, followed by Swedish House Mafia closing out the weekend with a massive finale. @headtripindio See the full gallery and recap thru @laweekly 📸 @headtripindio
