34-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision near Adobe Road

RED BLUFF, CA (December 5, 2022) – Early Monday morning, Zachary Mitchell was pronounced dead after a pedestrian crash on Interstate 5.

The incident happened around 4:45 a.m., on the northbound lanes of Interstate 5, just south of Adobe Road on November 28th.

According to reports, Mitchell got out of his vehicle and was standing on the shoulder of the road. There, a northbound 2014 Toyota Prius, driven by a 55-year-old man struck him.

Emergency crews arrived shortly after and declared 34-year-old Zachary Mitchell of Medford, Oregon, dead at the scene.

At this time, investigators have ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash and the events leading up to the collision are still under investigation.
