Brush up on your Bergman at the New Beverly this weekend. Wild Strawberries, Bergman’s languid parable about a man’s journey through his memories as he nears death, screens at 7:30, followed by Virgin Spring at 9:20.

Sat., June 18
From Britain With Love, a rolling showcase of new films from the United Kingdom, begins today with screenings of Toast, a foodie coming-of-age tale starring Helena Bonham Carter and Freddie Highmore. The series continues through July 24 with five more films, all screening on Saturdays and Sundays at various Laemmle theaters.
Later: From the director who brought us zombies before zombies were cool, Sam Raimi’s comprehensively nuts investigation of occult culture plays in full at the Egyptian tonight. The Evil Dead screens at 8:30, followed by Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness. Come for the possessed trees, stay for the time-traveling demon fighter forced to replace his own hand with a chain saw.

Sun., June 19
Father’s Day is a day for art-house holdovers. The Trip, Michael Winterbottom’s Fake Steve Coogan follow-up to Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story, continues at the Sunset 5, Playhouse and Town Center, and Nuremberg moves over to the Town Center. Because if your father is anything like ours, if there’s one thing he likes better than British comedy, it’s a Nazi war crimes procedural.
