If you weren't at Loteria Grill stalking Diana Kennedy last night, or pitching a tent waiting for Obama at today's Boxer rally, or in a sports pub watching the Lincecum-Halladay game, or at home in the rain actually cooking your own dinner, you were perhaps in Sherman Oaks at Max Restaurant (formerly the late-and much-lamented Marche) where LudoBites 6.0 had its opening night.

What was on the menu? Mussels velouté with green peppercorn, pineapple, fennel and potato paille; half chicken, with chorizo, poached egg, chanterelles and saffron-onion soubise; and for dessert, a warm carrot cake with coconut, Thai curry, mango sorbet and kaffir lime oil. (That last one was really something, as was the chicken, and, well, the velouté too. But we were off-duty, so you're just going to have to wait for somebody's review.)

Photograher Colin Young-Wolff was there, bless him, and took some pictures for the rest of us. Check out his slideshow. And for those of you you didn't score reservations, there is a communal table open on a first-come basis for walk-ins. Nice.
