For the past four years, comic Jane Edith Wilson and her husband Gary Lucy have produced the monthly Lit Up! It's an evening of comedy in, of all places, a church, with each show benefiting a different charity. But before you quote Luke 6:25 and scoff, “Woe to ye who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep,” ye need to know that the comics are regulars from those co-called alty/cutting-edgy clubs you seem to enjoy. And yes, there's wine. This month features Scott Carter (writer/producer Real Time With Bill Maher ); Annabelle Gurwitch and Jeff Kahn (authors of You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up), plus David Feldman, Jimmy Dore, Eddie Pepitone and more. Wilson's fave funny story: “When we were first putting this idea together I asked some of the gals from the church outreach committee whether the comics could swear on the shows. One soft-spoken woman named Nancy said, “I can take a little bit of swearing, just not wall to wall ‘motherfucker.'” There's even free childcare and a dessert buffet – praise You-Know-Who!
