Set sail along the South American coast toward California in the Gold Rush days at a sneak peek unscrolling of The Grand Moving Mirror of California, a 270-foot-long painted landscape celebrating our state's early history, with live foley effects, spoken narration and piano accompaniment. The evening benefits the Velaslavasay Panorama Enthusiast Society's efforts to preserve and promote the art of the panorama, the popular 18th- and 19th-century immersive experience merging painted environments with sensory stimulation. Bon voyage!

Sat., July 31, 7 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays. Starts: July 31. Continues through Aug. 21, 2010
