Our city is in the thick of the impressive and ambitious Los Angeles Comedy Festival. It's really two festivals in one: live acts from New York, Chicago, San Francisco, London and our damn funny town, plus comic films, including more than 50 short films from around the world and higher-profile features, like All's Faire in Love, with Christina Ricci, Ann-Margret and Owen Benjamin (which you missed, 'cuz it was opening night). Festival programmer Lawrin Goulston Salazar has been booking comedy acts in town for years and can spot sketch troupes and standups with a Lorne Michaels-ian eye, so you're in good hands.

Nov. 5-22, 8 & 9:30 p.m., 2009
