Finding ways to deepen audience understanding of dance has been a major focus of Los Angeles Movement Arts since its founding in December 2007 and evident since the organization's first Catalyst. For Catalyst 2010, seven choreographers will collaborate with visual, music, video and culinary (yes, culinary) artists who will perform live in conjunction with the dancing. The goal is to elaborate on who created the choreography, what the piece is about, what motivated the choreographer and ways the audience should approach and enjoy the dancing. This edition's participating choreographers are Michelle Shiu-Lin Lai, Heyward Bracey, Lindsay Ducos, Sara Silken and LAMA directors Jim Tsou and Nguyen Nguyen. How well things work will be part of the Q&A with the artists, served up with food and drinks after each show.

Sat., Dec. 11, 4 & 8 p.m., 2010
