38-Year-Old Firebaugh Woman Killed in Solo-Vehicle Collision near Levee Road

FRESNO, CA (January 11, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, Yolanda Arias was killed after crashing into a canal on Colorado Road.

Police responded to the scene around 3:00 p.m., near Levee Road and Tranquility.

For reasons under investigation, Arias lost control of her vehicle and drifted onto the right shoulder before overturning. Eventually, the vehicle ended up on its roof in a nearby canal.

The female driver sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Later, Fresno Court Officials identified the deceased victim as 38-year-old Arias.

Police also said that an unidentified 42-year-old male passenger managed to pull Arias out of the water before she died.

At this time, authorities believe that speed and wet weather contributed to the incident. However, Fresno County Officials will provide more information once available.
