The cause of the collision was under investigation.

Huang was an electrical engineering major at USC's Viterbi School of Engineering. He was on the dean's list.

[Update at 12:53 p.m. Tuesday]: The LAPD says the driver of the other vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Keysi Idania Cifuentes Lopez, would be arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter after she recovers from her injuries.

Cops alleged that Lopez, behind the wheel of a 1995 Ford Explorer, “failed to stop for a red tri-light.”

Sheriff's inmate data had no record of her, indicating that Lopez might not have been booked yet as of early this afternoon.

Also in the car with Huang was a 26-year-old, Justin Wayne Rawls, described by cops as a “close friend.” His injuries were said to be “non-life-threatening.”
