33-Year-Old Man Dead after Hit-and-Run Collision [Phoenix, AZ]

PHOENIX, AZ (May 25, 2021) – Saturday morning, May 15, Xavier Cantu, 33, died in hit-and-run crash in west Phoenix.

According to the police, a Ford Explorer and Cadillac Sedan collided at about 2:00 a.m., at the intersection of 71st Avenue and Catalina Drive. Crews arrived just north of Thomas road.

As stated by reports, the people inside the Explorer fled the scene before officers arrived.

Cantu was driving the Cadillac, and he was rushed to the nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, he was later pronounced dead.

The female passenger inside the vehicle with Cantu was not hurt.

It is still unclear how many passengers were in the Explorer at the time of the accident. No description of the driver is currently available.

Meanwhile, investigators have not decided whether impairment played a role in the collision. The case still remains ongoing.
