Come Labor Day weekend there’s only one kinda work we wanna do, and that’s on the dance floor. Here are some fave raves of varied flavors sure to make taking Monday off very, very necessary.

Trans Am. Sounds from the ’70s and ’80s get things revvin’ at the two-year anniversary of Apollo Staar’s hot-wheelin’ hang at the Beauty Bar. Special for the eve, Staar welcomes guest DJ John Easdale (Dramarama). Expect the pair to play anything, anything . . . as long as it rocks. 1638 N. Cahuenga Blvd., Hlywd.; Fri., Aug. 31, 9 p.m.-2 a.m.; free. (323) 464-7676.

Groovy. Big weekends call for big parties, and if you don’t mind a road trip, we recommend grooving on over to this retrolicious dance fest. DJs Astral Projection, Adam X, DeepSky, DJ Huggie, DJ Krust, Jumpin Jack Frost, DJ Ink, Silver, Swamp, RAW, XXXXL, Dirty Deedz, Scooter & Lavelle, DJ Taylor, Barry Weaver, Da Elephunks and “more, more, more” provide the soundtrack, so expect the bash to be more than a pure discorama — the mixes are sure to be both old and new. The real flashback here will be in the frocks: patrons are encouraged to bust out the bell bottoms, afro wigs and polyester. Get set to sweat. National Orange Show, 689 S. E St., San Bernardino; Sat., Sept. 1., 2 p.m.–3 a.m.; all ages. (323) 623-9234.

John Digweed. Arguably the biggest, most badass dance music DJ/remixer in the world (one of a short list, anyway), Diggy never ceases to make floors wiggy with his epic all-night trance-dance deck spells. Avalon, 1735 N. Vine St., Hlywd.; Sat., Sept. 1., mid.-7 a.m.; over 21. (323) 462-8900.

Labor Day Blowout. There’s hella hip-hop hijinx to be had at this big banger featuring The Beatnuts, Tash (Tha Liks), Konfident, Apx1, Crs?, DJ Limegreen, DJ Erok, DJ Ron Lee, Divine Forces and mo’ funky mashers. The Airliner, 2419 Broadway St., dwntwn; Sat., Sept. 1, 9 p.m.-2 a.m.; over 18; $15. www.airlinerla.com.

Beat it. More old-school fa-fa-foolin’ fills up this popular ’80s affair, which — as it does every year — moves to a bigger space to accommodate the young skinny-tie’d and legwarmer’d hordes. Special DJs for the eve include Ray Rhodes, Bif Jeffington, Joaquin and DJ Joe on the roof. Henry Fonda Music Box, 6126 Hollywood Blvd., Hlywd. Sun., Sept. 2, 10 p.m.-2 a.m.; over 18. www.clubbeatit.net.
