A pair of women was detained by authorities after allegedly dressing up as cops and robbing multiple victims, the L.A. Sheriff's Department announced this week.

The duo was not identified, and the investigation was ongoing, detectives said.

Authorities suggested that the pair used a replica handgun, handcuffs, a flashlight and other police-type gear to carry out this alleged spree.

The one alleged crime for which cops have distributed solid information happened about 12:45 a.m. on Jan. 9 in the 18000 block of Susana Road in Rancho Dominguez, according to a sheriff's statement:

 … Two female adults, dressed in police-type uniforms with a gun, drove up to a bicyclist and claimed to be police officers. The suspects subsequently handcuffed the bicyclist and robbed him of his possessions. Minutes later, the same two females presented themselves as police officers and attempted to stop a pedestrian near the 18000 block of Santa Fe Street, Rancho Dominguez.

Sheriff's Carson Station detectives got to work and fairly quickly tracked down a pair of suspects, officials said. Those two, including one with “numerous tattoos on both arms,” were placed under surveillance, deputies said. 

After the two found themselves in handcuffs, cops armed with a search warrant tossed their “place of residence” came up with what the department is coloring as damning evidence:

The evidence recovered includes: a replica handgun, two uniform jackets with police-type patches, handcuffs, strip-ties, a flashlight, gloves, and other items … 

Seems that investigators believe there are other victims out there. They say the duo used a white, 1999 Lexus RX900 SUV. Anyone who was victimized or who has info on this pair was was asked to call authorities at 800-222-8477.
