A woman was set on fire by a man in what appears to be a random act of psychotic violence overnight.
The homeless lady, in her mid- to late-60s, was sent to a hospital in critical condition following the early morning attack in Van Nuys, police told the Weekly.
It happened …
… about 1 a.m. at a bus bench at Sherman Way and Van Nuys Boulevard, said LAPD Officer Richard French.
A man in his mid 20s walked up to her, poured flammable liquid on her and set her on fire, according to police.
A witness followed the guy and told cops where to find him, according to French. He was described as being his mid- to late-20s.
Police arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder and were still in the process of booking him, according to French.
City News Service says the attack happened outside a Walgreens store (see photo).
[Added]: We forgot to add that French said the woman was sleeping on the bench when she was set on fire.
