Two Killed in Fatal Collision near Balls Ferry Road

REDDING, CA (November 30, 2022) – Thursday, two victims were killed and Zi Qiang Huang was involved in a motorcycle accident on 5 Freeway.

The incident happened around 5:35 p.m., northbound side of the freeway, just south of Balls Ferry Road.

Investigators say a motorcyclist lost control after hitting a deer, causing them to slide into the center median.

A female driver witnessed the crash and pulled over in the center median to render aid to the motorcyclist. There, a third driver in a Toyota Camry failed to see both parties and struck them.

Responding medical personnel declared the motorcyclist and the woman dead at the scene. However, authorities have not yet released their identities.

Redding Police later identified the Camry driver as 58-year-old Zi Qiang Huang, from San Francisco. Once available, further details will be provided.
