A woman born in the backseat of a car near downtown L.A. returned to her place of birth to once again reunite with an LAPD officer who helped deliver her.

Captain Paul Hernandez and his partner assisted in the delivery of Jennifer Munsayac, now 28. The delivery took place near the corner of Second Street and Vermont Avenue in the Koreatown area.

“It was right here on this curbline,'' Hernandez said.

Though the birth seemed to go smoothly at first, complications later developed, according to Capt. Hernandez.

`”Next thing we heard was momma yelling that Jenny had stopped breathing,'' he told reporters. “(We) made the decision to tie off the umbilical cord and separate Jennifer from her mom. Using my partner's jacket, we put her into the black-and-white police car and we took her straight to Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital.''

Through hospital care, Munsayac began to breathe again.

Munsayac's showed a copy of her birth certificate to reporters noting that the original place of birth, Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital, was crossed out and changed to read “in a car.”

“Every year I've always wondered, I always wondered what Captain Hernandez was doing nowadays and if he still thought about me,'' she said.

Hernandez echoed the same sentiments.

“The only thing I carried with me for many, many years was a field interview card with her name, her birthdate and the location that she was born,'' Hernandez said.
