A woman 18-weeks pregnant with twins was raped and fatally stabbed in her Venice home, police reported late Wednesday. A 22-year-old suspect from Culver City, identified as Boneetio Kentro Washington, was spotted running from the scene by responding officers who stopped him and made an arrest.

The crime happened Tuesday about 10 p.m. in the 1600 block of Electric Avenue, which is just east of gentrified Abbot Kinney Boulevard. The woman was found “suffering from multiple stab wounds,” according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement.

Fox 11 News reported that neighbors who saw all the police cars in the neighborhood thought at first that the officers were there for a security call related to film star Elijah Wood, who apparently lives nearby.

The victim, who was not identified, was described as a 39-year-old. She died at a hospital. At first authorities believed one unborn child was killed but later determined that she was pregnant with twins, both of which perished in the attack.

Washington was booked on suspicion of murder with special circumstances. He was being held at the Van Nuys jail.
