Fatal Head-On Semi-Truck Collision near South Bonnyview Road

REDDING, CA (January 31, 2022) – A wrong-way crash on Interstate 5 claimed the life of a female driver early Friday morning.

According to police, the incident occurred around 1:00 a.m., near the South Bonnyview exit. Crews responded to the scene shortly after.

For reasons unknown, a female driver of a Lexus sedan was driving the wrong-way on the highway and eventually collided head-on with a semi-truck.

Upon impact, both vehicles caught fire and came to rest in the center divider.

The 43-year-old male driver of the semi-truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Medical Center, in Redding.

Meanwhile, the female Lexus driver was pronounced dead at the scene due to the extent of her condition. Although, authorities have not yet provided her name or place of residency.

At this time, Redding Officials are still currently working to identify further circumstances surrounding the deadly crash.
