One Person Dead after DUI Crash on Western Avenue near Eighth Street

LOS ANGELES, CA (August 9, 2021) An unidentified woman killed in DUI crash on Western Avenue near Eighth Street on Thursday morning.

The accident happened around 2:45 a.m. On August 5, in the Koreatown neighborhood, on Western Avenue near Eighth Street.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving at a high rate of speed when she apparently swerved to avoid a car ahead of her that had stopped for a yellow flashing traffic signal.

Paramedics rushed the woman to a hospital, where she succumbed from her injuries.

At this time, officials have not released the deceased’s name, age, or city of residence.

Authorities believe alcohol played a role. However, an active investigation is still underway.
