Fatal Pedestrian Collision on McDowell Road in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ (October 20, 2021) – A woman died in a pedestrian accident on 26th Street and McDowell Road Friday night.

According to authorities, the accident happened around 6:30 p.m., when the victim was crossing the street. Emergency crews responded to the area shortly after.

Reports indicate that an unidentified woman was crossing the street when an eastbound vehicle struck her.

Consequently, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries later at the hospital, due to the extent of her condition.

Additionally, the driver of the vehicle had stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Officials stated that impairment of any sort appears to not have been a factor in the collision. 

Furthermore, the roadway was closed for an extended period of time but has since been reopened.
