Pedestrian Crash on 80th Street leaves 1 Woman Dead

KIRKLAND, WA (August 26, 2021) – One woman died in a fatal pedestrian crash on Kirkland’s 80th Street on Monday afternoon.

The accident occurred on 80th Street at the Salt House church parking lot around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, August 23.

According to Kirkland police, a female driver struck her female acquaintance in the parking lot. After colliding with the church building, the vehicle eventually came to a halt.

Tragically, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of her injuries.

Meanwhile, medics transported the female driver to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

According to the preliminary investigation, she later stated that she mistakenly believed her vehicle was in drive when she accelerated.

At this time, it is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. However, Kirkland Police is still conducting a thorough investigation.
