85-Year-Old Woman Fatally Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision near Cottonwood Avenue

SAN DIEGO, CA (November 22, 2022) – Early Friday evening, one woman was killed in a head-on crash on Mission Gorge Road.

Police responded to the scene around 5:21 p.m., on the 9000 block of Mission Gorge near Cottonwood Avenue on November 18th.

For reasons under investigation, a 2021 Toyota Venza and a 2018 Toyota Corolla collided head-on.

The 2021 Toyota Venza was occupied by a 70-year-old woman and the 2018 Toyota Corolla was occupied by an 85-year-old woman. The collision left both female drivers with injuries.

Responding medical units transported both drivers to an area hospital for further treatment. Crews later pronounced the 85-year-old Corolla driver dead, due to the extent of her condition.

At this time, officials have not released the identity of the deceased woman.
