Police Pursuit on Highway 4 near Contra Loma Boulevard Ends in Collision with a Tanker Truck

ANTIOCH, CA (February 23, 2023) Tuesday afternoon, a woman died after a pursuit ended in a collision with a tanker truck on Highway 4.

The accident occurred on February 7th, at around 2:30 p.m., along eastbound Highway 4 near Contra Loma Boulevard.

According to reports, California Highway Patrol officers tried to pull a gray Saturn SUV over for excessive speed. However, the driver failed to stop and police initiated a pursuit.

The driver then exited the freeway at Contra Loma Boulevard, sped through a traffic light, and re-entered the highway through the on-ramp. On the on-ramp, the Saturn rear-ended a tanker truck.

Rescuers had to extricate the driver before paramedics transported her to John Muir Hospital, in Walnut Creek, with critical injuries. Officials later reported that the woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
