Female Pedestrian Hospitalized after Hit-and-Run Collision near Fort Road

TOPPENISH, WA (July 17, 2023) – Early Friday morning, one woman was injured in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on State Route 97. Offices responded to the scene around 4:24 a.m., near Fort Road on July 14th. Per reports, the driver of a northbound vehicle on SR 97 struck the female pedestrian near the intersection and immediately fled the scene. Medics arrived and transported the 23-year-old woman from Wapato to Yakima Memorial Hospital for further treatment. Although, authorities have not yet released her identity. At this time, the suspect is still at large and those with further information are encouraged to contact local officers as soon as possible. Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, further details will be provided.
