One Person Hospitalized Following a Collision on West Sacramento Avenue

CHICO, CA (September 9, 2021) – A young woman suffered injuries Tuesday morning after a truck vs. bicycle collision on West Sacramento Avenue.

The incident happened around 7:55 a.m on September 7, at the intersection of West Sacramento Avenue and Nord Avenues.

According to Lt. Omar Peña of the Chico Police Department, the young woman was riding her bicycle in the area when, for reasons unknown, she was struck by a truck.

As a result of the collision, the woman was trapped underneath the vehicle.

Emergency crews were able to safely rescue the woman from the wreck and transport her to a local hospital for treatment of serious leg injuries.

At this time, Lt. Peña is still waiting for the hospital to release information about the condition of the victim.

The CHP does not currently believe that drugs or alcohol were factors. However, an active investigation remains ongoing.
