Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident near Interstate 680

SAN JOSE, CA (July 1, 2022)Early Tuesday morning, a woman was pronounced dead after a pedestrian crash on South Jackson Avenue.

The collision occurred around 4:46 a.m., at the 200 block of South Jackson Avenue. Emergency crews responded to the scene near I-680 shortly after.

According to authorities, a Honda Accord possibly a 2018-2022 model, was traveling northbound on South Jackson Avenue. There, the driver struck a woman who was crossing the roadway at the time.

Upon impact, the involved driver fled the scene without rendering aid to the severely injured victim.

Paramedics arrived and pronounced the female pedestrian dead, due to the extent of her condition. Authorities currently withheld her identity until next of kin are notified.

Meanwhile, police stated it is unknown why the woman was crossing outside of a marked crosswalk.

Officials continue to urge anyone with information about the driver to reach them at their offices. Meanwhile, an active investigation into the pedestrian crash on South Jackson Avenue is still underway.
