Fatal Train Accident near West 5th Street in Tucson

TUCSON, AZ (October 21, 2021) – Late Sunday morning, a woman was fatally struck by a train on North Main Avenue in Tucson.

The incident occurred near the junction of North Main Avenue and West 5th Street, according to the Tucson Police Department. Dispatchers responded to the area shortly after.

According to Union Pacific, a woman was hit and killed around 10:30 a.m. However, the events leading up to the collision remain unclear.

The route was blocked for over two hours. Although, the road has since reopened to traffic.

No further details have been provided to the public. Meanwhile, the incident is still under active investigation.
