1 Killed, 1 Injured in Head-on Accident near Berryessa Road

SAN JOSE, CA (October 26, 2021) – Sunday morning, a woman was killed and another was injured in a wrong-way collision on Interstate 680.

Shortly after 5:00 a.m., CHP received reports of a woman who was driving a Nissan sedan north on the southbound lanes near Berryessa Road.

She then hit an oncoming vehicle head-on, causing that car to also hit another vehicle. Authorities are still investigating why Nissan’s driver, a resident of San Jose who died at the scene, was driving the wrong direction.

One person in the second car was hospitalized for major injuries. Meanwhile, another person in the third car suffered minor wounds.

As of 6:45 a.m., the road was still blocked; however, the area has since reopened.
