Female Bicyclist Fatally Struck in Deadly Crash on Clairemont Drive

SAN DIEGO, CA (May 20, 2022) – Tuesday morning, a woman was pronounced dead after a bicycle collision on Interstate 5.

The accident happened shortly before 9:30 a.m., on the southbound side of the freeway, just north of Clairemont Drive.

For reasons unknown, the driver of a passing vehicles struck the female bicyclist. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medical personnel pronounced the woman dead.

Authorities also closed two lanes along the interstate through the late morning to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

At this time, San Diego Officials continue to investigate the deadly collision. Once available, further details will be provided.
