1 Killed, 2 Injured in Violent Collision near Garfield Street in Tolleson

TOLLESON, AZ (July 20, 2021) – Saturday morning, one woman was killed and two others were hospitalized after a fatal crash near 91st Avenue.

Officers responded to a call about a Nissan truck smashing into a Ford Crown Victoria near a market in the area of 91st Avenue and Garfield Street. The accident occurred around 9:30 a.m.

According to reports, the Nissan was speeding northbound on 91st Avenue. Meanwhile, the Ford was slowly pulling out of the market’s driveway waiting to merge into southbound traffic.

For reasons unknown, the Nissan swerved across four lanes against traffic and collided with the Ford. The Nissan was then pinned against a nearby cinderblock wall.

Emergency responders pronounced the female passenger of the Ford dead on scene. In addition, the drivers of both vehicles were taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

At this time, police do not know what caused the truck to swerve and cause the fatal crash near 91st Avenue.
