A Latino man fatally shot in the neck on Friday, Nov. 19 has been identified as 33-year-old Wilmer Flores. Police found Flores in a 8349 Lurline Avenue home at about 3 p.m., after receiving reports of gunfire.

A videographer at the scene told City News Service that he had noticed an ice cream truck in the garage where Flores lived; he guessed it might have belonged to the victim or a family member.

Flores was declared dead before he could be taken to a hospital. According to the coroner, he bled to death from a gunshot wound to the neck.

Three days after the murder, on Nov. 21, police arrested Flores' uncle — 52-year-old Julio Cesar Garcia Flores — for the crime. They found him around 6 p.m. in the Hollywood area; he's now behind bars with a $1 million bail.

Officers now approximate that the shooting took place around 2:15 p.m. that Friday, and that the victim's uncle, Julio Flores, fled the scene after killing his nephew with a shotgun.

Anyone with information about the crime is urged to call the LAPD Devonshire Division detectives at (818) 832-0609.
