Pedestrian vs. Train Accident Kills 67-year-old William Pattenaude

GAVIOTA, CA (September 9, 2021) Authorities identified William Pattenaude, 67, as the man killed in a train vs. pedestrian accident last Sunday afternoon.

The incident took place around 1:15 p.m. on the Amtrak Coast Starlight railroad tracks about a mile south of Mariposa Reina.

Deputies and other emergency personnel responded to the area after receiving reports of a possible train vs. pedestrian accident.

After arriving at the scene, deputies, together with EMS and railroad personnel, looked around the area along the railroad tracks. They eventually found the victim who suffered major injuries.

Despite life saving measures, emergency crews declared Pattenaude dead on the scene.
