79-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Accident near Highway 198

HANFORD, CA (January 27, 2022) – A pedestrian crash on 12th Avenue claimed the life of 79-year-old William Odam Thursday evening.

The collision happened on 12th Avenue near Glendale Avenue, just north of Highway 198. Crews responded to the scene around 6:15 p.m.

According to the investigators, Odam was crossing the street at 12th Avenue. There, a passing motorcyclist nearly struck Odam before another approaching vehicle hit the victim.

Paramedics immediately responded and despite life-saving efforts, pronounced Odam dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver stayed at the scene to cooperate with the authorities.

Moreover, both directions of the roadway shutdown for cleanup and preliminary investigations. Although, the road has since reopened to traffic.

At this time, an active investigation is still currently underway. Once available, further details will be provided.
