SAN DIEGO, CA (June 27, 2023) – Saturday evening, a pedestrian accident on State Route 94 claimed the life of William Benjamin Koch. The fatal collision happened around 9:21 p.m. along the eastbound lanes of SR-94, west of 28th Street in the neighborhood of Grant Hill. According to CHP, a white Chevrolet Silverado pick hit the pedestrian attempting to cross the freeway lanes. Subsequently, the 44-year-old Chevy driver pulled over as one witness contacted emergency dispatch. Unfortunately, the first responders declared the pedestrian dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver stayed at the site of the incident and cooperated with the investigators. CHP Officials shut down two left lanes of State Route 94 for at least an hour as crews investigated the scene.
