Fatal Motorcycle Collision near State Route 166 in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 29, 2021) – A motorcycle crash on Interstate 5 claimed the life of William Alan Summers Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 9:50 a.m., on Interstate 5 near State Route 166. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after.

According to reports, 73-year-old Summers was riding along the Interstate 5 on-ramp when he collided with a semi-tractor trailer under unclear circumstances.

Responding paramedics located the rider dead at the scene. However, authorities have yet to release the condition of the truck driver.

The surrounding area was closed for a brief time, but has since reopened. Investigators have not given the names of those involved.
