Two Pronounced Dead after Wrong-Way Collision near Interstate 5

EVERETT, WA (February 25, 2022) – A crash on 41st Street left Wilfrido Sarmiento and Mila Sarmiento dead early Saturday morning.

The crash happened around 1:00 a.m., near 41st Street and Interstate 5. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after.

Authorities said that a wrong-way driver, Caleb Wride was heading north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5. Eventually, his vehicle collided head-on with a Volkswagen Beetle.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Beetle, 67-year-old Wilfrido Sarmiento, and his passenger, Mila Sarmiento both died at the scene.

Additionally, police transported Wride to a hospital with unknown injuries. He was suspected of driving under the influence and was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for an inquisition on vehicular homicide.

An active investigation into the crash is still currently ongoing.
