It's the coolest outdoor spot on the Coachella grounds – literally. Misters and water guns help you beat the heat while you dance your little behind off to thumping electronic music.

So, what's not to like about the Do Lab stage? Lots, apparently.

The Do Lab has generated a lot of hate on the Coachella message boards. “I don't want to hear fat dubstep in the background while I'm watching a band like Foals,” said one commenter. Another called it an “anachronistic burning man nuisance.”

But the most frequent complaint concerns its sound bleed into the other stages. Apparently the organizers heard their whining, as it's been moved from the center of the festivities to an area near the food courts.

In any case, no matter where you put it, the Do Lab is the best thing about Coachella. There's no other stage where you can get quite as wet or weird. And it's the only one where, rather than a passive relationship between performer and audience, the audience is an integral part of the experience.

The fact is, metaphorically (if not geographically anymore), the Do Lab is the heart of Coachella. It's also the festival's best, non-judgmental space to go completely balls out, to music that is pretty darn good:
[It's always been a prime location to discover both emerging and established off-beat electronic artists. This year's 10th anniversary lineup is especially eclectic, ranging from the avant-garde Lucent Dossier Experience, to the new-school Brit producer Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.

Sure, folks there may dance like hooligans, but it only looks funny if you aren't doing it yourself.

With the exception of the Sahara tent, it may be the only spot where everyone sets aside their self-consciousness. It's glorious.

And unlike the Sahara, there's almost always room to dance. Plus, have we mentioned that people spray you with water guns?

Is it an anachronistic Burning Man atmosphere? Maybe. But let's be honest – Coachella could use more Burning Man atmosphere.
