Why did Prop. 19, after all the awareness it raised, after inspiring so many young people to turn out to vote, after turning the world on to California progressive politics — why did it still fail?

We took a look at the reasons and found that some of the traditional, pro-marijuana groups weren't entirely on-board with pot legalization until late in the game. Not to fear, however:

Those very groups say that 19 made a respectable showing, attracted legitimate political forces to the legalization effort, and will likely inspire another attempt to stop making pot a crime — this one in 2012. Read all about it here.
