As the public is getting educated about cannabinoids like Delta 8 THC, it’s popularity will continue to rise. Although Delta 8 currently has the spotlight, you’ll still hear some common questions about Delta 8 which include – does it get you high? And if you will be able to pass a drug test. Here are the top reasons why Delta 8 THC is getting so popular.

Less Regulated

Unlike Delta 8’s distant cousin – Delta 9 THC, aka Marijuana, there are less restrictions surrounding this cannabinoid. This so happens to be Delta 8’s biggest draw, the fact that you can purchase it wherever CBD is available. The reason behind this is because Delta 8 is not classified as Marijuana.

Hemp Derived THC

Under the Farm Bill, Hemp is classified as the Cannabis sativa L. plant that has less than 0.03% of Delta-9 THC. Although Delta 8 is a form of THC, it has less than 0.03% of Delta-9 THC, the same as CBD. In other words, Marijuana = more than 0.03% Delta-9 THC, and Hemp = less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC.

Since both CBD and Delta 8 THC come from the Hemp plant, they are able to be sold in places and states where Marijuana is not. As of right now, there are no laws regulating the sale or use of Delta 8 THC in California. However, companies like Delta Extrax won’t sell to anyone under 18 or 21 depending on the local state laws of certain products.

Smoke Shops

Local smoke shops have also noticed how popular Delta 8 THC has become. Blake Brown, the owner of a small smoke shop states:

By bringing the Delta 8 THC products into our store, we were once again thriving, reaching larger audiences, and attracting some of our past customers to once again shop with us”.

Both online and in person retail stores have noticed an increase in the demand of Delta 8 THC. Also, this is one of the industries that saw a spike in sales when our nation went into lockdown during the Pandemic. While uncertainty and confusion was running rampant, a lot of people were looking for a way to escape. Therefore, they turned to their local smoke shops for something new.

Common Questions

You’ll run into tons of articles about Delta 8 THC from how it makes you feel to states fighting to make it illegal. However, some common questions most new users have is does it get you high? Will you pass a drug test? Among other questions.

Does Delta 8 Get You High?

Short answer, yes. Delta 8 THC is a form of THC that does get you high. This is because unlike CBD, Delta 8 is psychoactive. It stimulates the mind very similar to how Marijuana does, except it’s less potent.

One of the biggest mistakes that new users make is underestimating the effects of Delta 8. Yes, it’s less potent than Marijuana, but it’s still potent. If you take too much it can get you really high. Therefore, we suggest following the recommended dosage on the packaging before treating like you would CBD.

Will You Pass A Drug Test?

Short answer, no. Although you’re not using Delta 9 THC aka Marijuana, it’s still THC. Also, most drug tests are not testing for specific cannabinoids like Delta 8, Delta 9, or CBD. They tend to test for any form of THC, regardless of the type of THC it is.

If you are subject to frequent drug tests it might not be a good idea to take Delta 8 THC. Although it might not be classified as Marijuana, the person conducting the drug test might not understand. So, we suggest avoiding it all together as it can linger in your system like Marijuana does.

Will Delta 8 THC Be Made Illegal?

Although we’re not able to predict the future, a big trend currently among lawmakers is making Delta 8 THC illegal in certain states. This is due to the unknown long term side effects of Delta 8, so they are preemptively taking a stand against it.

We don’t see every state making Delta 8 THC illegal but we predict to see an increased regulation of this product. It is currently bringing in too much profit to individual states to ever fully go away. However, increased regulation and oversight are some possibilities.

A Familiar Experience

Another major reason why Delta 8 THC is so popular right now is because it provides a familiar experience. For those who are used to Marijuana, Delta 8 provides a similar experience without some of the side effects.

Less Potent

It has been well reported that Delta 8 THC is less potent than Marijuana. However, it doesn’t mean that Delta 8 is not potent at all. On the contrary, it can pack a punch if you take high amounts of it. This is true if you’re sensitive to THC or don’t have a high tolerance.

One of the biggest draw of Delta 8 is that it produces a less intense high when compared to Marijuana. What this means is that users report feeling less anxiety and less side effects. If Marijuana tends to give you anxiety then you should try Delta 8 instead. However, this doesn’t mean that you should jump in head first. Try a small amount first and take it from there. You’ll want to find out how you react to Delta 8 first.

Euphoric Experience

That euphoric feeling that Marijuna gives you can also be experienced by Delta 8. This is due to the different strains that are available such as Indica, Sativa, and Hybrid. If you’re looking for a certain type of effect then be sure to look for labels indicating what type of strain that product is associated with and look at the product’s potency.

Final Thought

Once you’ve discovered Delta 8 the chances of going back to anything else are very slim. We’ve seen this product skyrocket to the top of the Hemp industry and make headlines. Although it’s very similar to Marijuana, the small differences such as potency, and availability make it much more desirable. If you haven’t tried any yet, head to your local smoke shop and pick up a cartridge, or tincture today!
