The hype machine behind Lady Gaga's “Born This Way” has overshadowed everyone and everything else, but come this Thursday, the popster zeitgeist will, at least for a day, shift to another embellished (if less outrageous) video diva. You know who we're talking about kiddies… It's Britney, bitch! The video for “Hold It Against Me” will debut on MTV this Thursday, and it's being touted as a bona fide media event. (An actual video on MTV? Guess it should be.)

Part of her promo campaign is releasing teasers each day leading up to the clip's unveiling, and judging from the stills on MTV.com, it looks like it might be another statement about over-zealous media? Or maybe, it's just imagery for imagery's sake? Who knows and who cares? Not her fans, that's for sure. How do we know this? We asked them.

At Club Tigerheat's mega Brit bash last week, the general consensus was this: as long as Brit-Brit's makeup is “flawless,” hair is “fierce” and bod is -barely- covered in “fabulous frocks,” the girls (and more importantly the gays) will be happy.

LA's biggest gay pop-music dance club went bigger for its Britney night, moving to the Palladium. Promoters Jason Lavitt and Ray Rhodes should definitely think about a return soon (perhaps for the “Born This Way” premiere?) The place was packed! In between the boy grinding and impressive recreations of video vamp choreography (we may have been the only ones there who didn't know Gaga's arm moves in “Bad Romance”), we talked to some fans about Spears' enduring appeal.

In addition to the infectious beats and hooks of her music (Dr. Luke = “the pop fan whisperer”), many say her vulnerability is part of why they love her. Even her “tragic” phase (the shaved head) and recent fashion mis-steps (“bad weaves”) are forgiven when she transforms into a grinding glamazon on film and stage. And thanks to all the songwriters, mixers, directors, stylists, lighting specialists, managers, (and meds?) she's set to do it again this week, no oops about it.
