Brits-a-poppin out all over! Wow — was it really just one year ago we had BritWeek? Why? “We want to brighten people's lives this year,” Nigel Lythgoe, BritWeek co-founder and producer of such heinous TV shows as American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, says boastfully. “We Brits love Los Angeles, and we believe in it. Times are tough, but we are here to stay and in a big way. BritWeek carries a serious message wrapped in a wonderful celebration.” Loads of events are planned: a gala fund-raiser honoring Tony Blair to benefit Malaria No More, plus a talk by British astrophysicists at Griffith Observatory, pub-darts tournament all over town, a celebrity soccer match, England vs. Australia cricket match (game?) and the big BAFTA-LA Comedy Awards in May. Full schedule at www.britweek.org.
