Run by Friends of the Library in an annex next to the beautiful Westlake Village Library, Book Nook sits on a pretty garden square filled with fountains. This is a nonprofit, and the price is right. Martha is the highly competent manager who can answer all your questions, in this room crammed with books in a well-arranged system overseen by volunteers. Open every day except Monday, with tons of free parking in the lot, they do crazy stuff like periodic sales offering a grocery bag of books of your choice for $3. Normally, hardcover books go for $1, even large coffee-table books in excellent shape, and they tend to include a lot of religion, art, textbooks, biographies and literature. The paperbacks, at 50 cents apiece, are dominated by thrillers, mysteries, science fiction and best sellers. They have a nice, ever-changing selection of new arrivals, making return trips a pleasure. (It’s only a few miles from Agoura Hills’ Book Cellar, so make a Saturday of it.) 31220 Oak Crest Drive, Westlake Village. (818) 865-9230. —N. Jenssen
