Thirty-five houses were searched and 23 people, mostly connected to a white gang, were arrested this week in a probe of attempted attacks against Hemet police in Riverside County, according to Fox 11 News.

The operation against the gang, which went unnamed (there are but a few, including the Nazi Low Riders, the Aryan Brotherhood, Public Enemy No. 1 and the Peckerwoods), took place in Hemet and the San Jacinto Valley, areas hit hard by housing foreclosures, according to Associated Press. Despite the arrests, no solid connections were made between the gangsters and the attacks, which have included a booby trap, torched city vehicles and an incendiary device.

Suspects were arrested in connection with alleged weapons, narcotics and parole violations, Hemet police told AP.

“But we hope some (arrests) will lead us to our suspects,” Capt. Dave Brown said.

District Attorney Rod Pacheco said indicated that white gangs could have an ax to grind with area cops: “White supremacist gangs have been very violent, especially toward law enforcement.”
