You know the feeling: that exhausting nausea from drinking too much beer combined with a whole lot of Super Bowl junk food. That mound of chips and guacamole seemed like a great idea at kickoff, but by the half-time show, it’s gross. And no matter how excited you are to gather with friends and family to watch the most anticipated game of the year, the idea of downing a plate of soggy nachos and greasy chicken wings makes it all just a little less appealing.

So if you’re secretly dreading the lack of decent edible options at bars across the city on Super Bowl Sunday, don’t fret. We found a handful of truly delicious L.A. eateries that are ready to make your Super Bowl Sunday a whole lot tastier.

Petty Cash Taqueria
Chef Walter Manzke’s mid-city taqueria will be open at noon on Super Bowl Sunday. If you’re into spicy drinks, try the Tapatio tequila cocktail specials. Manzke’s street food-inspired menu items, such as grilled octopus tacos, hamachi ceviche and roasted cauliflower nachos, surely will please the pickiest of Super Bowl-watching eaters. 7360 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles; (323) 933-5300, pettycashtaqueria.com.

Barrel and Ashes
Even if you were trying to avoid eating cliched barbecued meat with your football, Barrel and Ashes in Studio City's is worth considering. This chef-driven barbecue restaurant (which our food critic reviewed a few weeks ago) will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday. The seating will be first-come first-serve, so get there early for 24-ounce beer specials, habanero barbecued chicken wings and tri-tip sandwiches with rosemary aioli. Short Order
Enjoy another chef menu in an unlikely place by chowing down on Nancy Silverton’s burgers at Short Order. Watch the Super Bowl inside or outside on one of many flat-screen TVs. The restaurant will even be offering Super Bowl Sunday specials, such as $18 pitchers of craft beer (normally $26), all-you-can-eat wings for $12 and the “Beast Mode” cocktail, made with L.A.-distilled Tru Gin. 6333 W. The Grill in the Alley, Beverly Hills
The view of the televisions from the elegant dining room at the famous Beverly Hills steakhouse might not be great, so head instead to the classic bar, where they’ll be showing the Super Bowl and, as usual, serving the entire menu. Watch the Patriots and the Seahawks battle it out while sipping a perfect martini, savoring a Caesar salad, steak tartare and, of course, delicious steaks. 9560 Dayton Way, Beverly Hills; (310) 276-0615, thegrill.com.

Plan Check Kitchen and Bar
All three locations of Plan Check Kitchen and Bar will be celebrating Super Bowl Sunday in full effect, with food specials and a chicken-wing-eating contest (sign-ups start at 2 p.m.). Traditional Super Bowl foods such as nine-layer dip and chili burgers will taste better when made from Santa Maria tri-tip steak and Wagyu beef. Other Super Bowl specials include spicy fried chicken sandwiches, chorizo chili cheese fries and $1.50 Buffalo wings. And it’s not a Super Bowl party without some booze, so try the Pig Skin, a bacon-infused rye old-fashioned, or make it a group thing with the 12th Man Punch Bowl, which serves four people a mix of rye, orgeat, bitters and Champagne. Multiple locations, plancheck.com.

POT
The Super Bowl party at chef Roy Choi’s POT Lobby Bar at the Line Hotel in Koreatown starts at 1 p.m., so you’ll have a solid two and a half hours to focus entirely on Choi’s delicious Korean pub fare before the game starts playing on large screen at 3:30 p.m. Enjoy specials like Korean fried chicken wings, fried dumplings, rice cake nachos and vegetable pancakes. The $15 pitcher specials and $9 “POT shots” might weaken your ability to play corn hole, Jenga and beer pong, but it will be fun regardless. The Hungry Cat, Santa Monica
Chef-owner David Lentz and chef de cuisine Kris Longley will host an indoor tailgate party at the Hungry Cat Santa Monica with drink specials and Super Bowl snacks like Sriracha chicken wings, loaded potato skins with crab, beer-braised pork ribs and slaw and a grilled pizza with spicy shrimp, fennel and arugula pistou. The waterfront outpost of the seafood restaurant is the only one showing the game; it will be serving brunch from at 11 a.m., the Super Bowl “Tailgate” menu and raw bar from 3 to 5 p.m. and the dinner menu along with Super Bowl drink specials after 5 p.m. 100 W.
