Where the Chefs Eat is an ongoing series in which we ask a local chef to give us his or her favorite dining options. This week, Corina Weibel, chef and owner of Canelé tells us her favorite spots to eat cheaply in L.A.

Like all savvy Angelenos, Canelé chef Corina Weibel bases her recommendations on what part of town you're in and what time of day it is. On the Westside in the morning or during lunch? “Cora's.” The breakfast and lunch counter with the beautiful patio is Weibel's go-to Santa Monica spot. “Try the steak and eggs, the kobe patty melt or one of their juicy burgers,” she says.

On the Eastside, Weibel goes for Yuca's. “I love the cochinita pibil.” She also adores the tamales served on the weekends, but counsels that “you need to get there before noon when they sell out.”
