I started incorporating smoothies into my morning routine. Not exactly knowing why or what the benefits exactly are, I decided to dive into it.

I’m awful at remembering to eat breakfast, as I know it’s the most important meal of the day. Now by learning more and making smoothies myself, they are packed with nutrients, protein, fiber and they help me lay off the junk food throughout the day as smoothies are very fulfilling. I really had no idea what to put in my smoothies to gain all the benefits at first, but I did my research. First off, find a protein powder you like. I prefer chocolate or coffee flavor. I always add my greens and I absolutely love Athletic Greens which are made from 75 vitamins, minerals and whole food-sourced ingredients. Athletic Greens are also vegan, gluten-free, keto and paleo-friendly.

The next step is to add in fruits that are low in sugar. I buy the frozen mix berries and add about half a cup full. I also like to freeze my spinach so it lasts longer. The final ingredient for me is almond milk. Using just these few ingredients has helped me with my skin, keeping me full and energized, while enhancing immunity and boosting brain power. Now I know why so many have jumped on the smoothie trend and wish I would have started sooner.

There are many ways to incorporate so much more into your smoothies. Do what works for you that helps start your day right. For me, it’s the newfound energy I have after incorporating smoothies into my daily routine.

My preferred recipe is below:

  • 2 scoops of protein powder (I prefer chocolate or coffee flavor)
  • 1 scoop of athletic greens
  • 1 cup of frozen spinach
  • 1/2 frozen mix berries
  • 1 1/2 cup of almond milk
